Colors

Choosing the right colors for your fall wardrobe is essential. If you have the right colors, everything else falls into place. Here are some colors we recommend incorporating into your look:

Mustard

Mustard yellow allows you to mimic the changing color of fall leaves in your wardrobe. Many people think that mustard yellow is a difficult color to pull off; however, you can style mustard yellow in many different ways

High-waisted mustard yellow pants paired with a black top are the perfect fall look for when you’re looking for something casual yet slightly elevated. You can also try pairing a mustard yellow sweater with a pair of blue denim jeans. Or, if you have a wedding or formal event to attend, a mustard yellow dress can make you stand out in a sea of black.

Mustard yellow is also an excellent color for accessories. If your fall wardrobe has a lot of neutral tones, try pairing your outfit with a mustard yellow purse to brighten things up.

Olive Green

Everyone looks great in olive green, so we’re happy to say that this color will be as popular as ever this fall season. If you want a classic and chic outfit, pair an olive green top or sweater with black denim or black leather pants. Or, you can switch things up and pair olive green paints with a plain black top or turtleneck.

Olive green and cream white are another classic fall color combo. You can pair olive culottes with a cream button-down blouse or cream cardigan for a simple yet elegant look

If you want something a little bolder, try pairing olive green with burnt orange. Burnt orange is eye-catching and bold, and it’ll help you stand out amongst the crowd. You can match olive green pants with a burnt orange blouse or an olive jacket with a burnt orange dress.

Burgundy

Burgundy is another must-have fall wardrobe color. You can pair a burgundy sweater with a plaid skirt for the perfect balance of chic and laidback. Burgundy also pairs well with shades of gray, such as light gray or charcoal gray.

It also teams well with other neutrals, such as white, black, and tan. If you’re headed out for a date night, try pairing a burgundy sweater with a black leather skirt.

Oversized Outerwear

Everyone knows you need the appropriate outerwear to be comfortable in the crisp fall weather. However, to be cozy and fashionable this fall, you must look into oversized outerwear

The tricky part is figuring out how to wear oversized outwear without making it look baggy or out of place. You can add a belt over the top of your oversized fit to keep your look polished and accentuate your waistline. For a warm fall day, try pairing your oversized coat with biker shorts and a belt or fanny pack for a polished, sporty look.

It’s also smart to pair your oversized outwear with fitted pieces. For example, you can pair an oversized jacket with skinny jeans or a cropped top. If you want to make a statement, pair an oversized jacket with wide-legged pants or jeans. Then, complete the look with sneakers or ankle boots.

Adding a feminine touch or a pop of color can also help you pull off the oversized look. For example, you can wear a feminine dress or skirt with an oversized jacket. Or, you can wear a brightly-colored oversized jacket or some bright-toned boots to stand out.

Skullies

Skullies (also known as skully hats) are brimless hats that hug your skull and keep your head warm. Everyone needs a skully hat or two in their fall wardrobe, and we recommend buying one in a neutral color such as black to pair with many different outfits.

Then, we also recommend buying a skully hat in a bright color for days when you need an accessory to make your outfit pop. For example, you could pair a bright pink skully hat with a denim jacket and jeans.

Retros

Fall is often the best season to get in touch with your retro side. Now is the time to try and pull off that 1950s retro skirt suit you’ve had sitting in the back of your closet.

Retro dresses and skirts are also fabulous for fall weather. We recommend pairing them with black tights and a beret hat to tie your look together.

Booties

Booties are essential footwear in the fall. They’re perfect for when you need something fashionable yet practical. We recommend investing in at least one pair of high-quality fall booties. Black booties are best when you need shoes that pair with many different outfits.

White booties are also very on-trend and go great with blue denim jeans and colored turtlenecks.

Fabric

Don’t forget to consider the fabrics of your fall wardrobe. Here are the primary materials you need in your closet:

Corduroy

Corduroy pants or overalls are perfect for when you’re sick of wearing denim jeans all the time. You want the corduroy to be the star of the show, so pair your corduroy bottoms with a neutral-colored top.

Velvet

Velvet pants have made a comeback recently. Wearing brightly-colored velvet pants is a fun way to mix up your fall look while still staying fashionable.

Suede

Not only is suede fashionable, but it’s also very durable. You won’t regret investing in a suede jacket or pair of suede shoes that last you many autumns to come.
